While they are known for their military might, House Harkonnen is an economic powerhouse when played correctly. House Harkonnen Traits

The key to House Harkonnen’s strategy lies in their Oppression ability. By spending twenty Manpower, they can Oppress a Village they control, doubling its resource production for the next three days. However, there are consequences to this action. Once the effect wears off, the Village suffers a twenty-percent production penalty and has a chance to spawn rebels for the next ten days. Oppression should be used strategically when a specific resource is needed immediately or to take advantage of certain councilors.

House Harkonnen’s labor practices also come with a drawback. Their Villages always suffer a global production penalty of ten percent. However, this penalty can be mitigated by garrisoning each Village with militia. Each militia unit in a Harkonnen Village reduces the penalty by five percent, so having two or more militia units eliminates the penalty completely.

As a ruthless faction, House Harkonnen doesn’t hesitate to sacrifice their pawns. An Agent can be assigned to a specific Operation, reducing its cost and prep time, but at the cost of the Agent’s life.

Hegemony Bonuses

House Harkonnen gains valuable bonuses as their Hegemony increases. At five thousand Hegemony, they begin to earn fifty Intel every time they Pillage. This provides an opportunity to gain resources before withdrawing from a Village.

House Harkonnen also has the ability to recruit captured Agents from defeated enemy units. Each time their troops destroy a total of twenty non-mechanical units belonging to an enemy faction, there’s a five percent chance a new Agent will spawn with the Brainwashed trait. These Agents may be less resource-efficient than regular Agents but are useful for reducing Operation time.

When House Harkonnen reaches ten thousand Hegemony, they can assign an additional Agent to Arrakis, the Spacing Guild, CHOAM, and the Landsraad. They also have a small chance to keep an Operation after using it, allowing immediate deployment without spending time and Intel. Sacrificing the Agent carrying out the mission is necessary for this to occur.

Feyd-Rautha is Baron Vladimir’s presumed heir and a political mastermind. With him in your council, you can apply Corruption to Landsraad Resolutions. If a Corrupted Resolution passes targeting a faction, that faction will lose Landsraad Standing. Feyd-Rautha also doubles the Harkonnens’ Agent recruitment speed and increases Influence production by twenty percent when a Village is oppressed.

Piter De Vries

Piter De Vries serves as Baron’s mentat advisor and brings unique benefits to the council. With Piter present, sacrificing an Agent to expedite a mission grants five hundred Solari. The cost of the mission is also reduced by twenty percent for the rest of the game. Piter’s abilities offer economic advantages and can help speed up operations.
